The La Jolla Historical Society’s Collections encompass over 80 years of actively collecting archival material, books, maps, scrapbooks, ephemera, fine art, newspapers, street and land use files, business and personal documents and historic and prehistoric artifacts. The Society boasts over 20,000 photographs, over 700 postcards, 400-plus architectural drawings and approximately 200 oral history recordings. LJHS is in a current project making the Collection more accessible to the public. You may access a preliminary list of LJHS's holdings and ongoing updates at the Online Archive of California on the LJHS dedicated page. Plans for further access is in progress. If you would like to conduct research in the Collections, please submit your inquiry and the Collections Manager will respond to your request.
Research in the Collection is by appointment only. High resolution scans of historic photographs are available generally for $45.00 each. Please see Collections Use and Reproduction Fees for details. Members receive discounts. Donations of historical materials to the Collection are welcome with prior approval by the Collections Manager.
