San Diego/Tijuana has a magnificent collection of sacred buildings. What makes this collection unique is that the region has outstanding examples of sacred buildings representing the major movements in 20th century architecture. In fact, one could illustrate the history of modern architecture with images of the region’s sacred buildings. Leading architects throughout the century designed buildings of the highest quality. As part of the Getty Foundation’s Pacific Standard Time: Art and Science Collide, La Jolla Historical Society presents Helen and Newton Harrison: California Work, a retrospective exhibition about the work of husband-and-wife team of Helen Mayer and Newton Harrison, who were among the earliest and most notable ecological artists.
