UC San Diego Craft Center and La Jolla Historical Society are celebrating local surf culture. Join us for an unforgettable evening with music by Peter Sprague, expert surfboard shaping demonstrations by the UC San Diego Craft Center's talented shaping instructors, and a catered reception with light bites and refreshments.
The night will also include thrilling surf stories shared by professional surfers JoJo Roper, Kaitlin Mikkelsen and Zeke Szekely and moderated by surf journalist Scott Bass.
La Jolla Surf

The exhibition La Jolla Surf: Culture, Art, Craft invites viewers into the world of surfing through iconic photography by Roy Porello, Jeff Divine, and Ron Church, original artwork by award winning designer John Van Hamersveld, and surf boards from the greatest shapers in the region. A central focus of the exhibition is original interview footage with local surfers created by Curator John Durant. Visitors will hear firsthand accounts of how the surfing community developed, how it has evolved over time, and the powerful connection to, and appreciation of the ocean and nature that surfing engenders.
