D.G. Wills Bookstore
Thursday, April 11
6 PM
7461 Girard Avenue
If La Jolla ever had a House of Books, D.G. Wills is it. Books, floor to ceiling, in every nook. Books, outside, overflowing into what used to be a driveway and parking lot. Books about everything. Science. Travel. Art and Architecture. Cookbooks. Lots of books that are literature. And a lot more that are not. For those in the know, the custodian of this House of Books is Dennis Wills, who started used books as a business decades ago, and grew into the wise king of the enterprise. Like any wise king and lover of books, D.G. has many stories to tell - how he accumulated books from private libraries and estates, the signed copies picked up on a lark, the first editions that got away. He’ll tell (what’s acceptable) in a private tour starting at the bookstore at 6 PM.
